By Mushvig Mehdiyev

Agreement between Russia and Georgia’s breakaway region Abkhazia on the creation of joint army is illegal, said Paata Zakeriashvili, Georgia's State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality.

"It is Russia's reaction to Georgia's aspirations for Europe and European institutions. The recent document, as well as all 80 documents signed between Russia and the so-called Abkhazian government, are illegal," Zakeriashvili said.

He added that the existing changes in Abkhazia are results of the events in August, 2008.

The draft of "Treaty between the Russian Federation and Abkhazia on the alliance and integration" was prepared and sent to the so-called parliament of Abkhazia by Russia on October 13.

The ruling regime in Abkhazia ratified and prepares to sign the agreement. The draft says the introduction of a coordinated foreign policy, formation of a common space of security and defense, creation of a united social and economic space, preservation of the common cultural and humanitarian space are the main areas of cooperation, integration and partnership between Abkhazia and Russia.
