Reaching nuclear deal depends on West's loyalty to commitments

An Iranian official said Tehran has already undertaken its commitment in the interim deal between the Islamic Republic and six world powers and now it is time for the West to show loyalty to its commitments.

Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Spokesman KazemJalali said Iran has carried out its commitments in the interim nuclear deal and now, the ball is in the West's court.

Jalali told Trend Agency on October 30 that reaching the final nuclear accord depends on the level of western countries' loyalty towards their commitments in the nuclear talks, as Iran has done everything necessary so far.

Last November, Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - China, Russia, Britain, France, and the United States - plus Germany clinched an interim nuclear accord, which took effect on January 20 and expired six months later. However, in July they agreed to extend their talks until November 24, as they remained divided on a number of key issues.

The P5+1 Group countries are preparing to hold the next round of negotiations with Iran to reach a comprehensive nuclear deal until November 24. The time for next talks hasn't been scheduled yet.

Iran and the P5+1 held their latest round of talks in Vienna in mid-October to work out a final agreement aimed at ending the long-standing dispute over Tehran's nuclear program.

The U.S. State Department's Persian Language Spokesperson Alan Eyre said following the talks that Iran and P5+1 had reached "significant progress" in the nuclear talks, but there is still "hard work" ahead.

Jalali further noted that the records of talks indicate that the western countries always take provocative steps on the verge of a constructive ending in the nuclear negotiations and positive conclusions, but Iran however hopes the West will remain faithful to its commitments.

He said Iran has carried out its obligations clearly and cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency to show that the country is responsible to both being under supervision of its peaceful nuclear activities and faithful to its commitments.

Jalili added that Iran has shown that there is no place for a nuclear bomb in its defense doctrine.

The U.S. and EU imposed sanctions on Iran's oil and financial sectors at the beginning of 2012 under the pretext of potential deviation toward non-civilian purposes in Iran's nuclear energy program. Iran has vehemently denied the Western allegations against its nuclear energy program.
