Kazakhstan to establish AI-92 stabilization reserve
By Aynur Jafarova
Kazakhstan will establish a stabilization reserve of AI-92 gasoline in the amount of 50,000 metric tons, Kazakhstan's First Deputy Energy Minister Uzakbai Karabalin said at a briefing in the Central Communication Service on October 21.
"The stabilization reserve is planned to have about 50,000 metric tons," he said. "Today it will depend on the price at which we will be able to buy these volumes."
Karabalin also noted this issue is being discussed with the country's economy and finance ministries and the large entities which have fueling stations all over the country.
"The amount of funding needed for this work is also being discussed," he said.
A plan of measures on stabilizing the domestic oil product market was worked out to resolve the problems in the future. The plan was considered at a meeting of the inter-ministerial commission for the development of oil, gas and energy fields.
Kazakh Energy Ministry held talks to supply AI-92 gasoline from
Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Belarus, China and other countries.
In order to normalize the situation with the shortage of fuel and
lubricants, as well as gasoline products in the domestic market,
the Kazakh government signed contracts for AI-92 gasoline supply in
the amount of 106,700 metric tons in October.
The daily shipment of AI-92 gasoline from the refineries of Russia
and other countries to Kazakhstan is nearly 3,000 metric tons.
AI-92 gasoline of K-5 class will be sold via retail gas stations of
KazMunaiGas in Astana, Almaty, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, West
Kazakhstan and Karaganda regions.
The retail sale of AI-92, AI-95 automotive gasoline and diesel fuel
is implemented at all filling stations of KazMunaiGas without
restrictions since October 20, 2014.
Kazakhstan's own refineries also have increased the gasoline
production by 17.3 percent in January-September compared to the
same period of 2013 and brought its volume to around 2.211 million
metric tons.
