Turkmenistan successfully implements large-scale projects of national and international importance.

This remark was made by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov at a cabinet meeting, local media reported.

"Intensive construction of more than 2,000 different buildings and structures worth over $45 billion is underway in Turkmenistan," the president noted.

The Turkmen leader also said currently, the construction of the North-South transnational railway, which will connect the regions of the continent, has been completed.

Works on the development and improvement of oil and gas fields, large gas pipelines, air harbors, highways and large bridges are underway in the country as well.

Turkmenistan also has some 237 projects worth nearly $4 billion which have been put into operation in the country in the first 9 months of 2014.

Turkmenistan is gradually passing to market economy. This was reflected in the constitution. The country achieves impressive success in the implementation of its socio-economic strategy. The GDP per capita in the country amounted to $19,000.

Since early 2014, Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover has exceeded $21 billion. The investments made in the various sectors of the national economy increased by 8.3 percent in the first six months of 2014 compared to the same period of 2013.

The country will construct around 419 large facilities worth over $9 billion by late 2014.
