Uzbekistan, U.S. eye prospects for bilateral cooperation

Uzbek President Islam Karimov has received Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Central Command, General Lloyd Austin, who is on a visit to Tashkent.

the two sides discussed the topical issues related to the bilateral cooperation in various spheres, as well as certain regional and international problems, Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) reported.

Lloyd Austin expressed gratitude to the Uzbek president for providing opportunity to exchange views on the current status and prospects for the development of the Uzbek-U.S. relations in the spheres of mutual interest. He reaffirmed the readiness of the U.S. government to strengthen the multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan.

General Austin emphasized the U.S. interest in developing the relations between the two countries.

The president, in turn, emphasized the constructive and the progressive nature of the Uzbek-U.S. dialogue that allows to intensify the relations in all spheres of mutual interest.
