The trade turnover between Georgia and the EU countries amounted to $ 1,408 billion in January-June 2014, which is 15 percent more than in the same period of 2013, the Georgian National Statistics Office reported.

Georgia's exports for the period amounted to $296 million, a 41 percent growth, while an import was $1,113 billion, a nine percent growth.

EU countries' share in Georgia's foreign trade turnover in January-June 2014 amounted to 26 percent, including exports at 21 percent, and imports at 28 percent.

Some 31 percent of Georgia's trade deficit fell to EU countries during the first half of 2014.

Georgia's foreign trade turnover with CIS countries stood at $1.716 billion during the reported period, which is 10 percent more than in the same period of 2013.

The country has exported around $758 million worth of products (an increase by 11 percent) and imported some $957 million worth of goods (an increase by nine percent) during the reporting period.

The share of CIS countries in Georgia's foreign trade turnover amounted to 31 percent in the first half of 2014. The share of export transactions with the CIS countries stood at 53 percent, while the share of import transactions totaled 24 percent.

Some eight percent of Georgia's trade deficit fell to CIS countries, versus nine percent in the same period of 2013.

Georgia's foreign trade turnover amounted to $5.4 billion in January-June 2014 or by 14.9 percent more than in the same period of last year.
