Tajikistan produced 1,141 kilograms of gold in the first half of 2014, which is 56.7 kilograms more compared to the same period of 2013.

The news was announced by Tajik Industry and New Technologies Minister Shavkat Bobozoda, local media reported on July 24.

The minister said Tajikistan produced over 1,084 kilograms of gold in the first half of 2013.

"Growth of production of this precious metal is achieved thanks to the increase of gold production at almost all mines. Only the gold production figures of the Zarafshan Joint Venture amounted to 707.1 kilograms, which is 329 kilograms more compared to the first six months in 2013," he added.

Bobozoda went on to note that this year gold production is expected to reach three tons.

"This forecast plan is feasible, since the Zeravshan Joint Venture has completed the second stage of installation of equipments that will increase gold production in the country," the minister stressed.

Tajikistan produced 943.6 kilograms of silver since early 2014, which is 43.2 kilograms more compared to the same period in 2013.

Zeravshan owns 4 mining leases of Jilau, Taror, Khirskhona, and Olympic mines. The metal quantities of resources are 5.5 million ounces of gold, 90,600 tons of copper, 5.716 million ounces of silver.
