Turkmenistan, Slovenia ink package of intergovernmental agreements

Turkmenistan and Slovenia have signed a package of intergovernmental agreements.

The signing ceremony was held within the framework of Slovenian President Borut Pahor's official visit to Turkmenistan on July 22-23, a source close to the negotiations told Trend Agency.

The signed documents included a joint statement of presidents, an agreement on cooperation between the trade and industry chambers of Turkmenistan and Slovenia, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, an agreement on economic cooperation between the Turkmen and Slovenian governments, as well as a MoU between Turkmenistan's Turkmentelecom and Slovenian Iskratel, Telekomunikacijski sistemi, d.o.o., Kranj companies.

During the visit the Turkmen and Slovenian presidents discussed the prospect of the Slovenian companies' activities in Turkmenistan in the field of pharmaceuticals, telecommunication technologies and supply of various equipments.

The sides paid special attention to the cooperation in the fuel energy complex and the transport sector, where there are all opportunities for joint participation in the global energy and transport projects.

As part of the Slovenian president's visit to Turkmenistan, it is planned to hold bilateral meetings among the heads of different ministries and business circles.

On July 23, Pahor will visit the Turkmenbashi city, where he will familiarize with the operation of oil refineries, international seaport and the Caspian seaside resort of Avaza.

The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1993.
