Iran says talks only way to settle nuclear dispute

By Sara Rajabova

Following agreement between Iran and P5+1 on extension of nuclear talks, Iranian President said negotiation was the only way to final settlement of Iran's nuclear issue.

Noting that Iran is optimistic about the success of the talks, Hassan Rouhani said the Iranian nation was only after safeguarding its nuclear rights, IRNA reported.

After, a month of nuclear talks, Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council- the U.S., France, Britain, Russia and China - plus Germany have agreed on the extension of talks until November 24 with a view to achieving a permanent deal that would end the decade-old dispute over Iran's nuclear energy program.

Meanwhile, the European Union has agreed to suspend a series of economic sanctions against Iran over its nuclear energy program until November 24, the EU Council announced.

The EU said in a statement on July 21 that the decision would allow Iran to continue its exports of crude oil.

The decision is due to be endorsed by foreign ministers of the 28-member bloc during their meeting in Brussels on July 22.

P5+1 and Iran reached an interim pact last November under which Iran won some relief from economic sanctions in return for reining in some of its nuclear activities.

The deal came into force in January and expires on July 20, but can be extended depending on the agreement of all parties involved.

Their goal is to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement by July 20 that will lay to rest Western concerns about the Iranian program and ease all the sanctions on Tehran.
