Georgia is interested in the speedy ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU signed on June 27, Foreign Minister Maia Panjikizde said.

She said the parliaments of the several EU member state have already ratified the Georgia-EU association agreement.

"We are very interested in the speedy ratification of the agreement. Currently, everything is done to ensure the ratification of the document by the Georgian parliament on July 18," Panjikidze said. "Thereafter, the treaty will gain temporary effect. The document will be fully effective from September 1."

Georgia-EU Association Agreement will enter into force after its ratification by the Georgian Parliament, as well as by the European Parliament and the parliaments of the EU member states.

Romania became the first EU-member state to ratify EU's Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Georgian State Minister for Integration into European and Euro-Atlantic Structures Alexi Petriashvili said the ratification process of the Association Agreement by the signatories will be presumably completed by autumn.
