Turkish entrepreneurs are seeking to strengthen their positions in Turkmen market, Chairman of Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Mustafa Rifat Hisarciklioglu said during a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on June 26.

Hisarciklioglu underscored the deep interest of Turkish businessmen in strengthening their position in the promising Turkmen market, which attracts each year a growing number of potential investors and companies from around the world.

Berdymukhamedov, in turn, noted that Turkmenistan - pursuing the 'open doors' policy and moving towards the broad international cooperation within universal interests - has always been ready to consider new proposals from Turkish companies, many of which have proven to be reliable and responsible partners.

Turkey is among the largest trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan. At present, more than 600 Turkish companies are working in various fields like energy, oil and gas, construction, transport and communication, textile and agriculture sectors. They are in close contacts with their Turkmen counterparts.

Turkey ranks fourth in the total trade turnover of Turkmenistan. The volume of trade turnover between Turkey and Turkmenistan amounted to $4,746 billion in 2013.

Turkish companies have accomplished over 1,270 projects in Turkmenistan including road constructions and building of bridges, resorts, universities and plants. The volume of projects carried out by Turkish companies has reached $35 billion.
