Roughly 80 units of temporary housing will be built for foreign political asylum seekers in Georgia through the U.S. government funding.

The U.S. government will allocate $2 million for the implementation of the project, the minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, David Darakhvelidze, said after a governmental meeting held on March 6.

"Designing of the new center for asylum seekers in Martkopi (near Tbilisi) for 80 units will be started very soon. The U.S. embassy informed us on the positive solution of this issue," he said.
