Georgian soccer team’s plane makes emergency landing

The Boeing jet owned by Georgian airline Airzena was forced to return to Tbilisi after one and a half hours in flight.

The chartered plane left for Dublin on May 29 with the Georgian national football team on board at 11:30 Tbilisi time, but after one and a half hour, it again landed at Tbilisi International Airport.

The airline has not made an official statement on this issue, but the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) confirmed the report to Trend news agency.

The reasons for the return of the aircraft are unknown. The GFF said that the players reacted calmly to the incident, since no emergency situation on board arose.

The Georgian football players left for Dublin for a match against Ireland which is planned to be held on June 2.
