Iranian carmaker to set up production line in Iraq
Iranian giant carmaker Iran Khodro will establish a production
line with the capacity of 30,000 units in the Iraqi city of
Iskandariya by June, IRNA news agency reported.
The production line will manufacture car spare parts using SKD
method, IRNA quoted Iran Khodro deputy director for exports
Abdolazim Sadian as saying.
In January, Nour Salem, a member of the Economy and Investment
Committee in the Iraqi parliament, declared that this committee had
suggested a ban on the import of Iranian-made cars following
horrible car accidents caused by manufacturing flaws.
Moreover, Iraq is setting forth a plan to import cars that suit its
fuel resources, said Adnan al-Sharifi, the CEO of the state-owned
car-import corporation.
"Iraqi fuel is well refined, something that Iranian companies have
not observed," he added, according to Al Monitor.
The state-owned corporation for car imports stated that it had
banned the import of Iran-made Saipa and Samand cars at the
beginning of the year.
