Turkmen president orders to complete water supply program in time
Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow has instructed to finish the realization of the program on providing the people of inhabited areas with clean water in time, the Turkmen government said.
This issue was discussed at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the message, the head of state focused his attention on the importance of those responsible for water supply to the provinces and those in charge of the provinces, to execute control over implementation of transformative programs in the regions.
Berdimuhamedow also noted the importance of control over timely commissioning of the facilities being constructed within the framework of "the General program on supply of inhabited localities with water".
The statement also said that key priorities of the state policy acquired their practical expression in realization of a number of wide-scale projects including those in the field of construction of modern hydrotechnical facilities such as the Turkmen lake Altyn Asyr in Karakum desert.
New reservoirs filling with water from Amu Darya, Murghab, Atrek, Tedzhen and the artificial river of Karakum stretching across the desert are being constructed in all regions of Turkmenistan.
According to preliminary data, groundwater reserves of the country constitute 3.5 million cubic meters per day.
Four drinking water factories with the capacity of 100 000 square meters per day function to supply with water the population of the capital Ashgabat.
