The Asian Development Bank plans to allocate about $150 million to Tajikistan in 2018, TajikTTA reported on March 1.

In 2018, the ADB plans to allocate about $150 million to Tajikistan, ADB's permanent representative in Dushanbe Pradeep Srivastava told reporters on Feb.28.

In addition to these funds, another $10 million will be allocated to reduce the risks of natural disasters, he said.

"Most likely, these funds will be allocated exclusively in the form of grants," he noted. Srivastava said that the International Monetary Fund together with the World Bank are assessing the debt sustainability of various countries, including Tajikistan.

"The latest data show that Tajikistan will most likely not receive loans, but has the right to get financing exclusively in grants. This is only expectation. We will have official information over the next two weeks," he said.

The ADB official explained that Tajikistan's debt obligations are unsustainable, and the country's category is likely to change.
