Iran interested in boosting trade ties with Pakistan

An Iranian envoy has voiced his country’s interest in booming bilateral trade with Pakistan by 70 percent.

Iran’s Consul General in the Pakistani city of Quetta, Mohammad Rafiei, has called for bringing the level of bilateral trade to $5 billion, IRNA news agency reported.

According to the official, the current figure of trade between Iran and Pakistan stands at $1.5 billion.

The trade turnover between the two countries in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting March 20) increased by 49 percent.

Iran exported worth of $634 million of goods to Pakistan in the mentioned period and Pakistan exported $348 worth of goods.

The value of exports from Iran to Pakistan in the nine-month period increased by seven percent and the value of Iran’s imports from Pakistan increased by 42 percent.
