A direct flight between Kazakhstan and Singapore is expected to be launched in 2019.

This was stated by Kazakh Ambassador to Singapore, Australia and New Zealand Usen Suleimen, Kazinform reported.

The diplomat noted that on January 1, 2019, it is planned to open a direct flight between Kazakhstan and Singapore.

“Therefore, we want to quickly hold a bilateral business forum and sign an agreement on visa-free regime (up to 30 days), which will encourage them to fly here more,” Usen Suleimen said at a briefing in the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The ambassador also said that there is a better option for air travel.

“We basically have another optimal variant - Astana-Kuala Lumpur, and it will be possible to extend it by 50 kilometers to Singapore. The Uzbek airlines launched a flight Tashkent-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent. We can also launch a flight en route Astana-Kuala Lumpur-Singapore or the direct one,” he explained.

There are 92 air routes with the length of more than 84,000 kilometers over the territory of Kazakhstan while 73 air corridors pass on the border with neighboring countries. As many as 80 percent of the air transit traffic of foreign airlines over the territory of Kazakhstan pass through routes connecting Europe with South-East Asia as well as routes between South Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Kazakhstan has airports in Shimkent, Atbasar, Karaganda, Kyzyl-Orda, Balkhash, Burundai, Zaisan, Petropavlovsk, Semipalatinsk, Ust-kamenogorsk, Uralsk, Taldy-Kurgan, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, Zhezkazgan, Atyrau, Zhambyl, Zhairem, Ekibastuz, Almaty, Aktau, Kostanay, Aktyubinsk, Arkalyk, and Astana cities.

Kazakhstan's existing airlines are Air Astana, Air Company MEGA, Avia Jaynar, Bek Air, Berkut Air, Euro-Asia Air, Excellent Glide, Irtysh-Air, SCAT, Semeyavia, Zhetysu, and Zhezkazgan Air.
