Volkswagen enters Uzbek market

A joint Uzbek-German enterprise, JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan, will start production of Volkswagen Amarok pickups.

The agreement on the organization of joint production was signed by Uzavtosanoat and Volkswagen AG within the framework of the official visit of Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov to Germany, podrobno.uz reported.

The project is planned to be implemented in 2018-2019.

The sides also signed an agreement on the organization of production of intercity buses MAN Lion's Coach at existing facilities in Samarkand. This agreement will serve to further strengthen cooperation, as well as improve the system of transport services between cities and increase the number of long-distance passenger transportation.

Volkswagen Amarok - mid-size pickup in the lineup models of the Volkswagen group. This car combines sophisticated handling, high ground clearance, high load capacity, and optional - 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive system, 8-speed box and 3-liter V6 TDI engine, the most powerful in the line.

This agreement means that a new manufacturer - the globally-known brand Volkswagen which is one of the world's three leaders in production and sales of vehicles - will come to the Uzbek market.

Volkswagen AG, headquartered in Wolfsburg (Germany), is one of the world's leading and largest European automaker. In 2016, the company sold more than 10.3 million cars.

It designs, manufactures and distributes passenger and commercial vehicles, motorcycles, engines, and turbomachinery and offers related services including financing, leasing and fleet management.

Volkswagen Group sells passenger cars under the Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, ŠKODA, and Volkswagen marques, motorcycles under the Ducati brand as well as commercial vehicles under the marques Man, Scania, and Volkswagen Commercial vehicles.

JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan Ltd. is a manufacturer of heavy-duty and passenger MAN vehicles in the Central Asian region. The enterprise was founded in August 2009 and is located in the Samarkand region.

Joint Uzbek-German enterprise produces modern and reliable commercial MAN vehicles with a carrying capacity from 15 to 50 tons. The company produces a wide range of equipment such as buses, truck tractors, dump trucks, concrete mixers, water trucks, garbage trucks, watering machines, more than 50 types of special machinery. Annual production capacity of the enterprise is 3000 units of equipment per shift.
