Turkey says ready to help resolve crisis between Qatar, Arab countries

By Trend

Turkey is ready to help resolve the crisis between Qatar and Arab countries that severed diplomatic relations with Doha, said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

He made the remarks at a press conference with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, who arrived in Ankara on June 5.

Cavusoglu noted that the decision of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Yemen and Libya to severe diplomatic relations with Doha has upset Turkey.

The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen announced about severing their diplomatic relations with Qatar on the background of contradictions between the countries.

Bahrain gave Qatari diplomats 48 hours to leave its territory. Meanwhile, Manama suspended air and sea communication with Doha and banned citizens of Qatar from visiting Bahrain, and also prohibited its citizens to visit Qatar and living there.

Qatar is a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which, with the exception of Egypt, Yemen and Libya, includes the above-mentioned Arab countries.
