Uzbekistan, Tajikistan ink documents worth $50M

Two Central Asian nations – Uzbekistan and Tajikistan- signed memorandums, agreements and contracts worth over $50 million following the first national exhibition of industrial enterprises of Uzbekistan and a business forum held in Dushanbe on April 17-20.

The exhibition was attended by more than 160 Uzbek companies, which presented about 1,500 products of such sectors as electrotechnical, cable-conductor, chemical and petrochemical, pharmaceutical, as well as sanitary ware, textile goods, food, leather industry, construction materials and others, UzA reported.

The agricultural and transport equipment, in particular, passenger cars, trucks and specialized cars, passenger buses, bicycles, motorcycles, tractors, attachments and cotton harvesters were presented on the open ground.

More than 20,000 people visited four-day exhibition in Dushanbe.

About 500 representatives of business circles of the two countries took part in the business forum that was held within the framework of the exhibition.

In addition, on the one farm’s fields, with the participation of representatives of Tajikagroleasing and dehkan farms, the whole line of agricultural machinery of Uzagrostekhpromholding was demonstrated. As a result of the demonstration, agreements and contracts were signed for $3 million.

In 2016, the trade turnover between the two countries grew 5.7 times to $69.2 million, according to the Tajik statistics.
