Iran government owes over $216B

The Iranian government's debts amounted to 7 quadrillion rials ($216 billion, as 32,367 rials make one USD), the country’s economy minister, Ali Tayebnia said.
He said that the figure was earlier estimated to be about 1.5 quadrillion rials, but the latest estimates reveal that the government debts to private sector hit 6-7 quadrillion rials, ISNA news agency reported Jan. 15.
It was said in August 2016 that the Iranian administration may issue $32 billion worth of bonds to settle its debt to the national banking system.
The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) said in a report last week that Iranian government's debt (including state-run companies) to the banking system has reached 1.47 quadrillion rials by Nov. 21, 2016, registering a 32.1 percent increase year on year. The figure doesn’t include debts of government and state-run companies to the CBI.
