U.S. president-elect Donald Trump will come to Russia on a visit after his inauguration, the Russian Izvestia newspaper reports, Sputnik reported.

A high-rank source in the US Republican party told the newspaper on Thursday that preparations for the visit will start after Trump assumes his responsibilities as president in January.

According to the source, there are currently no substantial contacts between Trump’s team and Moscow.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Trump in a phone conversation that Russia is ready to maintain constructive dialogue with the new US administration on the basis of equal rights and mutual respect. The politicians agreed that Russian-US relations were in an unsatisfactory state and vowed to work on normalizing them, according to the Kremlin press service.

Republican candidate Donald Trump won the 2016 US presidential elections, securing more than 270 electoral votes needed for his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton’s defeat.

Per the US Constitution, Trump will take his oath of office on January 20, becoming the nation’s 45th president.
