Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will visit Russia on November 1, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported on October 28.

More than 100 agreements covering all spheres of cooperation have been signed between the two countries. The base document is the agreement on friendship and cooperation, dated April 23, 2002.

Russian business operates successfully on the Turkmen market, in such spheres as supply of machines and equipment, telecommunications, oil and gas.

Some 190 companies with Russian capital operate in Turkmenistan. On the basis of the production sharing agreement, ARETI (formerly ITERA) International Group of Companies has been operating in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea since 2009.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Gazprom, the traditional trading partner, stopped buying Turkmen gas in 2016.
