Azerbaijan,Indonesia work to deeepen energy co-op

Developing relations between Azerbaijan and Indonesia was mulled as Azerbaijan`s Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev has met director general of oil and gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Gusti Nyoman Wiratmaja.

Aliyev stressed the role of such meetings in deepening cooperation. Speaking about the historical importance of "Contract of the Century" signed in 1994, the minister said cooperation for Azerbaijan which has great experience in oil refining field with Indonesia in energy sphere had wide opportunities.

Wiratmaja, in turn, expressed intention to benefit from Azerbaijan`s great experience in oil refining, exploration works.

The meeting also focused on discussion of successful relations between State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas Corporation Pertamina.

Earlier, the Indonesian delegation was on a one-day visit to Baku on June 5 to mull energy cooperation and consider opportunities for the joint work. During the Baku visit, the delegation headed by Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said met with President Ilham Aliyev, Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and Head of Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev.

Azerbaijan and Indonesia signed a joint statement, under which the sides agreed to appoint persons in charge from both parties to meet and go for detail of the agreement.
