SOCAR commissions well at offshore field
After conducting geological exploration, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) put a new well at the Gunashli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea into an operating well stock, the company reported on August 31.
SOCAR said the well No 412 was put into operation after geological and technical work was conducted from the jacket No 14 at a range of 2,887-2,880 meters.
The well daily output hits 25 metric tons of oil, the company said.
The operational work at the well is conducted by the ‘28 May Oil and Gas Production Department’.
‘Gunashli’ field plays an important role in the oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan.
SOCAR independently develops the field’s shallow water part, while its deep-water part is being developed within the ‘Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli’ block together with foreign partners.
SOCAR produced over 8.32 million metric tons of oil in 2014 versus 8.31 million metric tons produced in 2013.
More than 42.4 million metric tons of oil were produced in Azerbaijan in 2014 compared to 43.5 million metric tons produced in 2013.
