SOCAR opens office in Batumi

Azerbaijan's energy giant SOCAR inaugurated its office in the Georgian city of Batumi on May 18.

During the opening ceremony, which was attended by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and SOCAR Head Rovnag Abdullayev, it was noted that the inauguration of Azerbaijan's state energy company's new office is an example of developing partnership and cooperation between the two countries.

SOCAR Energy Georgia and its departments will be placed in this building located not far from the Batumi port.

The construction of the four-storey building, designed for 150 people, started in 2012, and is provided with working and technical rooms, a canteen for 24 people, a kitchen as well as administrative rooms and a conference hall.

The architect of the project is Rauf Khidirov. The building is honored with the status of cultural heritage. The total area stretches across 3,383.51 square meters.

SOCAR is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.

Three production divisions, two oil refineries and one gas processing plant, an oil tanker fleet, a deep water platform fabrication yard, two trusts, one institution, and 22 subdivisions are operating as corporate entities under SOCAR.

SOCAR Energy Georgia, Ltd was founded in 2006. SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, Ltd is the daughter company of the SOCAR through 100-percent share participation.
