Azerbaijan, Bulgaria ink new documents

Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have strengthened their bilateral relations with signing of two more agreements.

Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR and Bulgaria's Bulgargaz Company signed a protocol of intentions in Baku on September 22.

The document was undersigned by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev and Head of the Bulgargaz Board of Directors Botyo Velinov.

Another document, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between SOCAR and Bulgartransgaz Company. The document was signed by Abdullayev and CEO of Bulgartransgaz Kirill Temelkov.

Earlier Bulgarian media reported that the country plans to start importing 200-300 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan per year from 2016.

It is expected that the final investment decision to construct a gas grid inter-connector between Greece and Bulgaria will be adopted in autumn of 2014. The construction of the gas grid inter-connector is expected to be completed by 2016.

The diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan were established in June 1992.

There are very close relations between the two countries. These relations have been established in the last ten years. Political, economic, scientific, technological and cultural relations are developing rapidly.

The legal base of the two countries includes over 40 documents.

There is huge potential for the development of economic relations and increasing the trade turnover between the two countries. The two countries can find point of contacts in industrial, tourism, and humanitarian fields.
