Turkmen president: Energy transit should not depend on random problems in world
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov draws attention to the fact that the transit of energy resources must be independent of spontaneously occurring political, economic and other problems in the world, Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary reported on May 23.
According to the information, Turkmenistan's priority is to establish an international system of cooperation given the mutual interests and based on the economic viability and healthy competition. It has been recently stressed at a special meeting of the gas conference in Ashgabat.
The information is devoted to the results of the Ashgabat Gas Conference, which attracted 500 participants, including representatives of government agencies, about 150 oil and gas companies from more than 30 countries.
Among the speakers were the representatives of Chevron, Exxon-Mobil, BP, Shell, Hyundai Engineering, Pietro Fiorentini, Honeywell, Halliburton, СРЕСС and others.
UN News Center recently reported that the delegates of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly on Turkmenistan's initiative adopted a resolution on the transit of energy resources. More than 70 countries were the co-authors of the document. Ashgabat proposed to hold the international meeting of experts on the topic in early 2014.
Turkmenistan is one of the key players in the gas market in the Caspian region and Central Asia. At present, China, Iran and Russia use Turkmen gas. Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world on natural gas reserves. It is looking for new markets in Europe and South Asia.
