BP: 2.2 bln barrels of oil produced from ACG fields in Azerbaijan
Over $40 billion was invested within the oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan implemented by BP, the company's chief Gordon Birrell said during the signing of an agreement on extending BP cooperation with the Azerbaijani National Olympic Committee on Monday.
He added that the company is a participant of major energy projects in the country and in particular developing the block of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli offshore fields.
Birrell said that some 2.2 billion barrels of oil were extracted within this project.
As for the oil exports, Birrell said that so far some 1.7 billion barrels of oil were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. Some 2140 tankers shipped from the port of Ceyhan, were loaded.
He added that at present, a consortium developing the Azerbaijani gas condensate field Shah Deniz is implementing the second phase of the project. Around $ 25 billion of investments will be made there. This will create the conditions to turn Azerbaijan into one of major gas suppliers to Europe.
Birrell added that peak production figures amounting to 27 million cubic meters of gas and 55,000 barrels of condensate per day were reached at the Shah Deniz first stage development.
