Turkey has no plans to cut oil, gas imports from Iran

Turkey does not plan to reduce volume of oil and gas imported from Iran, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz told reporters on Wednesday, TRT Haber TV channel reported.

"Iran is the second largest gas supplier to Turkey and the first - in terms of oil supplies. Therefore, Turkey is not going to reduce the volume of energy resources imports from Iran," Yildiz said.

According to Yildiz, on the contrary, Turkey intends to increase the supply of oil, and in particular from Iraq.

In 1996, Iran and Turkey signed an agreement to supply 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey annually (30 million cubic meters per day).

When asked about the activity of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation TPAO in Lebanon, Yildiz said that TPAO will actively conduct oil and gas exploration in that country.
