Sanctions on Iran not to affect Azeri gas supplies for Nakhchivan
Sanctions against Iran will not affect the swapped Azerbaijani gas supplies for the Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic, neither will they affect the power interchange between Azerbaijan and Iran, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said on Wednesday.
"Volumes of energy supplies to Iran are small and are not commercial in nature. The importance is attached to the supplies for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which is facing a blockade," Aliyev said. In this regard, he said, no sanctions should affect supplies from Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan supplies about 350 million cubic meters of gas annually to Iran to send to Nakhchivan.
