Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has launched modernization of the pier platform site #410, operated by the Oil and Gas Extracting Administration, named after N. Narimanov.

The work is conducted by SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Construction Trust upon the order of the Azneft Production Union (PU), the company reported on July 12.

"Overhaul, which will cover the area of 1,000 square meters, is being implemented in order to improve the operation of the site. Some 46 poles will be clogged up and 5 metal boards with a total weight of 150 tons will be installed,” the company said.

SOCAR produced 3.1 million tons of oil from Azerbaijan’s offshore and onshore fields in January-May 2017, as compared to 3.16 million tons in the same period of 2016.

The company is involved in upstream, midstream and downstream operations. Its main functions pertain to the extraction, refining, transportation of oil, gas and gas condensates, and sale of gas and oil and gas products.

SOCAR includes such production associations as Azneft (the enterprises producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerikimya (the chemical enterprises) and Azerigas (distributor of gas produced in the country), as well as oil and gas processing plants, service companies, and the facilities involved in geophysical and drilling operations.

Currently, SOCAR is the only producer of petroleum products in the country, and operates more than 370 petrol stations in Switzerland, Georgia, Romania and Ukraine.

SOCAR participates in joint ventures (including ventures in Georgia and Turkey), consortia, and operating companies established with SOCAR’s participation.
