EIA reports about rise in petroleum import from OPEC

The volume of petroleum import from OPEC countries averaged at 3.422 million barrels per day in the first seven months of 2016, as compared to averagely 2.826 million barrels per day in the same period in 2015, according to the Monthly Energy Review of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The average volume of petroleum import from OPEC stood at 3.431 million barrels per day in the first seven months of 2014, said the report.

The highest volume of petroleum import from OPEC countries in the first seven months of 2016 was recorded in July (3.803 million barrels per day), while the lowest level was observed in January (3.052 million barrels per day), according to the EIA.

This figure averaged at 2.894 million barrels per day in 2015, as compared to 3.237 million barrels per day in 2014.

World oil demand for 2016 is projected to increase by 1.2 million barrels per day (1.3 percent) to an average of 96.3 million barrels per day, the World Bank said in its Commodity Markets Outlook.
