Azerbaijan gives start to parliamentary elections

The parliamentary elections have begun today, November 1, in Azerbaijan after 5,415 permanent and 132 temporary polling stations opened throughout the country.

The vote is held from 8 a.m. local time and will last until 7 p.m. Roughly 5.2 million Azerbaijani citizens, who enjoy the right to vote, will come to polling stations to express their constitutional right to elect their representatives to the parliament.

This year, 767 candidates - the representatives of 15 political parties and one bloc of parties, which represents seven parties, will compete for seats in Azerbaijan's Parliament. More than 66,000 observers have passed accreditation at the election committee to monitor the elections.

Information on the progress and results of the voting will be provided by the Information Center of the Secretariat of the Central Election Comission during the day at 10.00 a.m., 12.00 a.m., 3.00 p.m., 5.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.
