Azerbaijan, Ukraine keen on developing cooperation

The development of bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Ukraine was praised as Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Natalia Galibarenko.

They noted that there were favorable opportunities for the further development of economic, trade and humanitarian cooperation in compliance with the spirit of political relations.

The sides said the 3rd Global Baku Forum, running in Baku, plays an important platform role in discussing global and regional issues.

They noted that Azerbaijan and Ukraine enjoy mutually fruitful cooperation within international organizations both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan supports territorial integrity, sovereignty and internationally recognized borders of all countries.

They also discussed global and regional issues of mutual interest, AzerTac state news agency reported.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992. The embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan was established in 1996, the embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine was opened in 1997.

The basis of the relations between the two countries is laid by a treaty between Azerbaijan and Ukraine on friendship, cooperation and partnership signed in 2000 and the Declaration between the two sides on strategic partnership and friendship signed in 2008.
