Nargiz Pashayeva receives honorary professor degree of Moscow State University

A member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has become an honorary professor of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

PhD Nargiz Pashayeva received the title for her outstanding contributions to the establishment and development of Baku branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, as well as her role in building of fruitful cooperation with this university. The title will provide her with rights, honors and privileges established by law and custom.

University Rector Viktor Sadovnichy presented Pashayeva a diploma at a solemn ceremony on the 260th establishment anniversary of the Lomonosov Moscow State University in the Russian capital.

Addressing the meeting, Pashayeva expressed gratitude for the high score given to her works.

“For 260 years, Moscow University made a truly grand and beautiful, direct and dedicated, decisive and courageous way. Now all the people of Moscow University can say that they are serving the temple of knowledge that unites youth and wisdom, tradition and modernity, similarity and difference, different cultures, generations, ideals of humanism, peace and justice,” she stressed.

Noting that Baku is also celebrating the anniversary of the great university, Pashayeva congratulated the audience on this glorious and bright event on behalf of the Baku branch, scientific-pedagogical public of Azerbaijan and citizens of the country.

She expressed special gratitude to rector Sadovnichy and all those professors who throughout this time acted as a bridge between Baku and Moscow and helped establish Baku branch.

“In Baku, we will always honor you, your high mission will remain forever in the memory of the people of our country who have always paid tributes to their teachers,” Pashayev stressed.

Pashayeva is a graduate of Baku State University. She has received the degree of candidate of Philological Sciences in 1987, and became Doctor of Philology in 2004. She is the author of monographs, books, textbooks, dozens of articles published in scientific collections and periodicals.

Nargiz Pashayeva, Rector of Baku branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University is also the founder and artistic director of the Creative Scene "UNS", board member of the charitable foundation "Azerbaijan Culture Friends", co-chairman of the Anglo-Azerbaijani Society, editor of the literary department of the magazine "Azerbaijan-Irs", and author of a number of publishing and cultural projects.

Baku branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University was established in 2008 and now presents five departments: Philological, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Psychology, Economics and Management.

The tuition is based on the curricula of the Moscow State University with the application of innovative technologies. Each year, the students of the branch are actively participating in a variety of scientific events. In the course of its activities, the Branch succeeded in forging ties with leading universities of Israel, Romania, Turkey, Greece, Canada and the U.S.
