The Azerbaijani Army has lost eight servicemen as a result of the continuous ceasefire violation by the occupant Armenian troops over the past three days.

"The Armenian armed forces violating the ceasefire on the contact line of troops between Armenian and Azerbaijan in a planned manner attacked the position of the Azerbaijani armed forces," Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on August 1.

The intelligence-subversive groups of the Armenian army attempted to cross the contact line along the frontline.

The Ministry said the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces has repelled the enemy attacks, the Armenian forces were retreated as a result of the fierce fighting suffering heavy losses.

The local media reported about the death of 50 servicemen of the Armenian armed forces and the armed forces of Nagorno-Karabakh separatists.

The Ministry said the contact line is under full control of the Azerbaijani armed forces and the death of martyrs will not remain unpunished.

The leadership of the Defense Ministry conveyed its deep condolences to their parents and the relatives of the victims.

Earlier, Defense Ministry reported about the death of the two soldiers. It said the twenty-two-year-old soldier Garyagdy Ahmadov and ensign Isa Almasov were killed on July 31.

U.S. co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group James Warlick voiced concern over the recent escalation of tension on frontline.

"We are seriously concerned about the recent upsurge in violence along the line of contact. The ceasefire needs to be respected," Warlick wrote on his Twitter page.

Over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, has been occupied by Armenian armed forces since a lengthy war between the two South Caucasus countries in the early 1990s. The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions calling for an Armenian pullout, but they have not been enforced to date.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
