Azerbaijan and Morocco have signed an agreement on cooperation in the management of emergency situations.

Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov and Morocco's Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad inked the deal in Rabat.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Hassad said Morocco wants to benefit from Azerbaijan's rich experiences in building a disaster warning system and eliminating oil pollution. Heydarov, in turn, provided an insight into the ministry's activities, and highlighted prospects for cooperation with Morocco's emergency situations.

The Azerbaijani minister also met the Director General of ISESCO Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri in Rabat. Speaking at the meeting, Heydarov praised cooperation between Azerbaijan and ISESCO in the field of education, science and culture.

Altwaijri hailed Azerbaijan's role in the Islamic world as "exemplary". He also praised ISESCO joint projects with Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Azerbaijan's minister then met Prime Minister of Morocco Abdelilah Benkirane, who expressed his country's interest in strengthening cooperation with Azerbaijan in preventing and tackling emergency situations.

Moroccan Minister for Planning and Development Mohand Laenser received Heydarov afterwards. The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of construction, urban planning, experience and personnel exchange.

Azerbaijan and Morocco established diplomatic relations in 1992. The two countries cooperate within international organizations, including United Nations and Islamic Cooperation Organization.
