Azerbaijan, Zimbabwe to enhance co-op

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met his Zimbabwean counterpart Simbarashe Mumbengegwi on April 10.

Mammadyarov stressed the importance of the Zimbabwean minister's visit to Azerbaijan.

He noted Azerbaijan was determined to expand relations with African countries, emphasizing significance of the bilateral cooperation with Zimbabwe in a number of fields, particularly education, tourism and economy.

He said it was important to strengthen the legal framework of cooperation.

The sides also underlined the necessity of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in international organizations, particularly the United Nations.

Mammadyarov informed his Zimbabwean counterpart on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying that Armenia had ignored international organizations' resolutions and decisions and continued the occupation of Azerbaijani territories for more than 20 countries.

Mumbengegwi, for his part, said his country was interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in a variety of fields.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Mumbengegwi on April 10. The sides discussed the bilateral relations and new opportunities for developing cooperation.
