No Azerbaijanis among victims of Egypt clashes

There are no Azerbaijani citizens among those injured in today's clashes in Egypt, the diplomatic mission told Trend on August 14.

The Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt has received no information on casualties in clashes among the citizens

The embassy has earlier appealed to fellow citizens residing in Egypt, urging them to be vigilant.

Egypt's Interior Ministry forces began to disperse two camps of Morsi's supporters in Cairo on Wednesday morning. Tear gas and hand grenades are used by the police. Both squares in Egypt are surrounded by armoured cars, while military helicopters are circling overhead.

Representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood movement claim that more than 100 supporters of ousted President Mohammed Mursi were killed during the crackdown by police on their tent camp in Cairo, Agence France-Presse reported on Wednesday.

It was earlier reported about 50 dead and hundreds injured. Official confirmation of this information has not yet been reported.

Families of Azerbaijani diplomats and some members of the Diaspora left Egypt earlier due to the tense situation in the country.

The situation on the domestic political scene of Egypt escalated on June 30 after a mass protest under the motto 'Tamarrud' (Mutiny) against the regime of President Mohammed Morsi that has swept across the country.
