Kadyrov: Azerbaijan is Chechnya’s fraternal country

Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov on Thursday met the visiting head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov.

Asadov said Kadyrov's visit to Azerbaijan will contribute to the long standing friendly relations between the two countries. He also expressed hope for the further development of economic relations.

Regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament recalled that Russia is a co-chairing country of OSCE Minsk Group resolving the conflict.

"The conflict can be resolved by Russia's efforts and we do not lose hope," the speaker said.

Azerbaijan is Chechnya's fraternal country, Kadyrov said at the meeting.

"Our country also had a problem that Azerbaijan has faced," Kadyrov said. "Our country also has a lot of refugees. Chechnya lost a lot of civilians, but today we can say that Chechnya is the most peaceful region of Russia."

He expressed a hope for further development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Chechen Republic.
