Minister: Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation has passed a long path under Mehriban Aliyeva's leadership

The election of Secretary General of Azerbaijan Gymnastics
Federation (AGF) Farid Gayibov as the president of the European
Union of Gymnastics (UEG) is not accidental, Azerbaijani Youth and
Sports Minister Azad Rahimov told Trend on December 2.
The minister noted that the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation has
passed a long path under the leadership of President of the AGF
Mehriban Aliyeva.
"Great attention and care are paid to the development of gymnastics
in our country. As a result, our gymnasts have achieved excellent
results both in the European Championship, in the world
championships and in the Olympic Games," said Rahimov.
The minister noted that all this work has brought recognition to
Azerbaijan in the world
of gymnastics, and also led to great confidence in Azerbaijan.
"The result is that Farid Gayibov was elected to this high position
of the president of the Union of European Gymnastics. I am sure
that thanks to the election of this nominee, the gymnastics will
develop even more in Azerbaijan, and at the same time, Azerbaijan
will contribute to the
development of the world gymnastics," said Rahimov.
The minister also congratulated Farid Gayibov over his election to
the high position.
Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Secretary General Farid Gayibov
was elected as the President of the European Union of Gymnastics
(UEG).
The 50 member Federations of the UEG elected the new UEG
authorities at the 27th Congress in Split, Croatia on December
2.
Gayibov gained 28 votes, leaving behind Edvard Kolar, President of the Management Board of the Slovenian Sports Lottery, who received 20 votes.
Gayibov will replace Georges Guelzec (FRA), who led the UEG since 2009.
