An unexploded shell was found in the Arayatli village of Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli region.

Azerbaijan’s National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) received information about the discovery of unexploded ordnance in the Arayatli village on August 14, Report informs.

The Agency immediately sent a special rapid response team to the scene. ANAMA experts inspected the territory and discovered an anti-tank projectile of 125-millimeter caliber (OF-26). The special team transported the shell to the central territory of the Agency for destruction of dangerous objects and devices.

ANAMA also conducted ground inspection of an area of 900 square meters, but no other dangerous objects or devices were found.

ANAMA was established in 1998 for planning and coordination, management and monitoring of mine action related activities all over the country. The problem of unexploded ordnance in Azerbaijan can be divided into the areas that are still under the occupation of Armenian forces and other areas of the country. Most of the unexploded ordinances are the result of Armenian aggression.

Since the creation of ANAMA, its staff cleared more than 40,000 hectares of Azerbaijan’s territory, discovering and defusing over 760,000 mines and unexploded ordnance.
