Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov has revealed that more than $24 million was spent on youth-related projects in Azerbaijan over the five years

“We are proud that the Youth Fund under the President of Azerbaijan Republic carries out very active role. This year alone nearly $3 million was spent on thousands of youth-related projects. Our projects are divided into several categories,” Rahimov told the UN Press Service as he attended the Youth Forum in the UN headquarters in New York.

The main topic of the meeting participated by representatives of youth and ministers from 70 countries is the role of youth in combating poverty.

Rahimov noted that successful policy is being carried out for involving young volunteers in Azerbaijan.

“We have hosted grand events like the European Games in 2015, Formula 1 and the World Chess Olympiad in 2016. This year we will host the World Scout Youth Forum,” the minister said.

Rahimov is sure that such great projects provide an opportunity to unite the youth and volunteer movements.

The activities of the Youth Foundation, established in 2011, are aimed at motivating young people to take an active part in the socio-political, socio-economic and cultural life of society.

Major focus of Azerbaijan’s state youth policy is made on guaranteeing the social protection and employment of young people, stimulating their quest for creativity, educating them in the national spirit, strengthening their military and patriotic upbringing, and promulgating a healthy lifestyle.
