The Czech Republic is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan, said Jan Mladek.

The Czech minister of industry and trade highlighted the friendly relations between the two countries during his meeting with Valeh Alasgarov, the head of the Azerbaijani-Czech working group on interparliamentary relations in Baku.

He underlined that these relations are being developed day by day, and noted the importance of meetings of the heads of states and the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed between Azerbaijan and Czech Republic.

The Czech minister mentioned that today, Azerbaijan meets one third of energy needs of the Czech Republic.

Mladek also praised the interparliamentary relations between the two countries.

He also expressed his readiness to support Azerbaijan`s strategic partnership talks with the European Union.

In turn, Alasgarov expressed his confidence that the meetings held as part of the Baku visit of the Czech delegation will contribute to further deepening of bilateral relations, as well as further development of ties in political and economic fields.

Alasgarov hailed the Azerbaijan-Czech relations in all areas as excellent, highlighting the energy projects implemented with the participation of Azerbaijan.

On January 17, Azerbaijan-Czech Business Forum was held in Baku with participation of about 170 Czech businessmen, engaged in agriculture, food industry, finance, insurance, energy, logistics, construction, law, petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, glass production and other sectors of the economy.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic amounted to $316 million in January-November 2016, and $214.4 million of which accounted for the export of Azerbaijani goods to the Czech Republic, according to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
