Previously, Rahimov stressed that the strategy is aimed at the better development of the sphere of intellectual property protection, its integration into the already existing international system and rendering effective services in this field. Rahimov further said that the Committee is ready to provide all possible assistance to local inventors of products of pharmaceutical industry, providing protection for their intellectual rights.

The protection of intellectual property rights in the pharmaceutical industry is particularly important, especially the component of innovation, as the inventors have the exclusive right, Rahimov said.

"Given this, it is important for them to know what works in terms of intellectual property rights' protection are conducted in the country in the sphere of new technologies and production of new drugs. No less important is the harmonization of local legislation with the international”, said Rahimov

Rahimov also noted that Azerbaijan implements a pilot program to conduct training for local inventors. This will allow them to use all the advantages and mechanisms in this area by contacting the State Committee.

The strategy is being prepared in association with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and in accordance with an agreement signed by Azerbaijan and this organization.

It covers the issues of intellectual property, methods of dealing with the production and sale of counterfeit goods and etc.

The Strategy includes 30 target areas, which compromises about 90 specific issues. The main purpose is to protect the rights of inventors. This process contributes to the competitiveness of local products.

Azerbaijan joined WIPO in 1995 and was rated significantly high in its annual rankings.
