Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov and his Belarusian counterpart Andrey Ravkov have signed a cooperation plan between the two ministries for 2017, Azertac reported.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hasanov emphasized the “important” role of meetings of presidents in developing relations between the two countries.

He pointed out that Belarus has always supported Azerbaijan’s position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh problem at international organizations.

The ministers further noted the importance of participation of the Belarusian Defense Ministry`s delegation in Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition ADEX 2016.

“This will give a push to the development of the bilateral cooperation in military and technical fields,” said Hasanov.

Ravkov said Belarus regarded Azerbaijan as an “important” partner.

The two discussed the current state of cooperation in the military field, prospects for developing relations in a number of other spheres, organization of bilateral visits of specialists and experts, as well as international and regional security problems.

The 2nd Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition ADEX 2016 opened at the Baku Expo Center on September 27 and will last till September 30. Although ADEX is being held for only the second time, it has already become the largest exhibition in the region.

This year, ADEX is attended by 216 companies from 34 countries, and 29 delegations from 21 states. The geographical spread of the participants has expanded to such countries as Croatia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Montenegro.

The most numerous contingents in terms of the number of companies are Turkey (42 companies), Israel (14 companies), and Russia (14 companies). Such well-known companies as Aselsan, CETC, Damen, MBDA, Norinco, IAI, Roketsan, Rosoboron Export, Thales and others will participate with demonstrations of military equipment.
