Armenia will get even more severe blow if it doesn’t draw conclusions from the April fighting, Chief of Azerbaijan’s State Border Service, Colonel-General Elchin Guliyev told reporters on May 3.

Guliyev stressed that Azerbaijan has sufficient strength to liberate its lands from the Armenian occupation. “The Azerbaijani Armed Forces is always ready to liberate the lands from the occupation. But Azerbaijan supports the peaceful settlement of the conflict,” added Guliyev.

He noted that if Armenia shrinks from this process, Azerbaijan will liberate its lands by military means.

“As the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev stated, if Armenia shrinks from the peace process, the enemy will be completely defeated in the occupied lands. If Armenia doesn’t draw conclusions from the April fighting, it will get more severe blow,” Guliyev said.

The situation on the frontline aggravated on April 2 last year after the Armenian military units in the occupied lands began shelling Azerbaijan’s positions. Azerbaijani counter-attack led to liberation of several strategic heights and settlements.

On April 5, Azerbaijan and Armenia declared a truce brokered by Russia.

During the April clashes, over 320 Armenian servicemen were killed, more than 500 Armenian soldiers were injured, 30 enemy tanks and other armored vehicles, as well as more than 25 artillery pieces were destroyed during the counter attacks of Azerbaijan.
