Aliyev awards women’s volleyball club for world champ win
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has issued a decree to award women’s volleyball team Rabita 500,000 manats ($641,000) for winning the world championship, according to the president’s website.
The funds will be allocated from the President’s Reserve Fund.
Rabita sealed a 3:0 win over Turkey’s Vakifbank in the final match, played last Friday in the Qatari capital Doha.
In the run-up to the final, the Azerbaijani club beat Thailand’s Chang and Brazil’s Osasco.
